Calcium Propionate
Calcium propanoate or calcium propionate has the formula Ca(C2H5COO)2. It is the calcium salt of propanoic acid.
It use commonly used to prevent mold growth in baked goods like bread. It's also found in processed meats, dairy products, and beverages. As a salt of propionic acid, it works by inhibiting the growth and reproduction of microorganisms. It's generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by regulatory bodies and is widely used in the food industry to extend shelf life.
